For essay #1, I will use Temple Grandin as my topic. The statement regarding this essay topic is: "Human beings do not really need emotions to connect with other human beings or animals or to behave morally with a sense of right and wrong." Do you agree or disagree?
I disagree with this statement because in order to have a certain sense of connection with an animal or human being, one does have to have some sort of "connection" which requires understanding and some sort of feeling. In order for one to even consider acknowledging how an animal or human being feels, they have to feel themselves. Even though Temple Grandin was diagnosed with Autism, she was able to have some sort of connection with the cattle. Temple may not be aware of her emotions of necessarily feel them, but she does acknowledge that she has some sort of connection with the cattle.
i agree with what you say people do need a certain sense of connection with people & animals in order to really understand each other.
ReplyDeletetrue, i think thats what i was a bit put off with the statement because she has autism yet she sort of felt for the way the animals were being killed. There is a connection whether or not you notice it ...
